RISING ALT-POP DUO WASIA PROJECT RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE “2515”
April 1, 2026—Rising alt-pop duo Wasia Project, formed by siblings Will Gao and Olivia Hardy, makes a moving return with their single “2515” today; listen/share HERE. The track premiered as Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders alongside an interview with the duo.
“‘2515’ marks a new chapter in our songwriting — it’s colder and darker than anything we’ve done before,” shares the duo. “A song fueled by anger, the sonic mirrors racing thoughts that come with the emotion. With this track, we officially start our journey through night.”
The track channels the fragmented connections and strained relationships that Gen Z navigates. Produced by frequent collaborator St. Francis Hotel (Adele, Little Simz, Arcade Fire), “2515” sees Wasia Project at their most experimental and subversive.
Hailed as “a fast-rising youth pop phenomenon” by British Vogue and praised for their “modern jazz and indie with a wisdom beyond their years” by The Guardian, Wasia Project has built a devoted audience with their distinctive, genre-defying sound that bridges classical and contemporary pop.
The new music follows the 2025 single “Letters From The Day” and 2024’s highly anticipated Isotope EP, which was released alongside a short film and received instant acclaim from Wonderland, EUPHORIA, Clash Music and more. The group’s U.K. headline tour for the project sold-out in minutes, and the duo has performed multiple sold out shows at New York City’s legendary Blue Note Jazz Club and Los Angeles’ Pico Union Project. Plus, they have shared stages with Laufey, Tom Odell and Rachel Chinouriri.
Formed in 2019, Wasia Project draws on their Chinese-British heritage and classical music training to craft a distinctly global approach to pop, blending styles that transcend boundaries and span musical traditions. The London-based siblings first turned to music as a refuge from the pressures of growing up in a social media-saturated generation, channeling their instinctive creative bond into work that explores the complexities of youth, identity and connection.
Their 2022 debut EP, how can I pretend?, featured the breakout single “ur so pretty,” which appeared on season two of Netflix’s Heartstopper. The band followed with a string of standalone releases, including “Petals on the Moon,” which The Line of Best Fit praised as “a beautiful mix of heartfelt joy and weighty musical theatre-esque bravado.” The band have been championed by the likes of British Vogue, The Guardian, NPR, GQ, DIY and Rolling Stone, and have graced the covers of NME, BRICKS, Dork and Notion.
